I did the interaction design and the initial framework, which mostly meant working out what people would actually be drawing with. We went through MicroBit and HTC Vive controllers before landing on a Hokuyo lidar, picked purely because it was the one that stayed reliable. Then came the part nobody warns you about: testing an outdoor exhibit through whatever the weather felt like doing that day. Over 400 people ended up drawing on that wall, and I came out of it knowing a lot more about lidar’s limits, and a lot more P5.js, than I went in with.
